Palm Sunday, the first day of the Holy week was observed by Catholic Christians all over the world on 10th April 2022.

The day commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus to Jerusalem just a few days before his death on the cross. At Kirem, in the Diocese of Mangalore, the day’s celebration was led by Rev Fr Oswald Monteiro along with concelebrants Rev Sunil DSouza, Rev Walter Mendonca, Rev Maxim Pinto & Rev Patrick.

The Parish community had gathered near the BCM Hall where the palms (Coconut leaves) were blessed. Rev Fr Maxim Pinto read the Gospel and explained the significance of the event. Then the procession was led to the parish Church by Rev Fr Oswald Monteiro holding the palms.

During the solemn mass, the passion narratives from the Gospel of St Luke was proclaimed. Rev Fr Sunil preached the homily.

In the evening the ICYM youth conducted Taize prayer service in the Church guided by Fr Praveen SVD.

The Palm Sunday was observed in the Churches after a gap of two years due to Covid – 19.
