The Catechism Day 2018 was celebrated on Sunday, 25 February, 2018 with great vigor and joy. The celebration commenced with a Solemn Mass celebrated by the Parish Priest Fr Victor D’Mello at 9:30 PM. The Liturgy of the Mass for specially arranged and celebrated by the Children of the Parish. "Catechism brings us closer to God thereby transforming our Lives” were the efficacious words proclaimed by the Vicar in his Homily. The children along with their parents participated in the Holy Eucharist with immense devotion to our Lord.
The Celebrations didn't end there. It was now time for the Children to express themselves through dances, skits etc. presenting a plethora of talents through a meaningful and enriching Program. In attendance were the Chief Guest Fr Bernard Rodrigiues SVD, Director of Arnold Nivas- Home of the Aged, President of the Ceremony Fr Victor D’Mello, Sr Christella, Superior of Mother of Mercy Convent, Mr Burton Sequeira, Vice President Parish Pastoral Council, Ms Anitha D’Souza, Secretary, Parish Pastoral Council, Catechism Teachers, Children, Parents and Parishioners.
The program began by invoking God’s blessing via a dance performed by the 3&4th Std kids. The Catechism Coordinator, then Welcomed the gathering. The Children then presented their items class-wise. There were dances, skits on the Apparition of Mother Mary at Fatima and the Good Samaritan, musical of the Victory of David over Goliath and the first of its kind “Saint’s Show”- a summary of lives of some of the saints of our Holy Catholic Church. The Hard work of the Children and Teachers after days of practice came out to be a beautiful and inspiring
After a sumptuous program Prizes were given away to Children who secured 100% attendance and 1st , 2nd and 3rd place in the Catechism Examination by the Chief Guest and other Dignitaries Present on the Dias. The Chief Guest Fr Bernard SVD congratulated the children on their achievements and also encouraged them to be witnesses of Christ.
The Parish Priest then presented a token of gratitude to each of the Catechism Teachers for the selfless service they have rendered by teaching catechism to the Children throughout the year. In his Address , the Parish Priest commended the Teachers and parents for the efforts they have been putting in the faith formation of the Children. He also extolled the Children for coming for the Catechism Class and taking active part in the Liturgy of the Holy Eucharist. With much words of encouragement he reminded the Children on the need to live the Catechism taught to them at School and Church.
Soon after the Vote of Thanks the Parish Priest led the gathering into a time prayer before the Meals. Lunch prepared by our own Parishioners was then served all.
We remain grateful to the Teachers teaching Catechism, Parents for bringing their children for Catechism Classes week after week, Children for attending the classes regularly. We say ‘Thank You’ to all who have worked behind the success of the program. We express our gratitude to our beloved parishioners who prepared delicious lunch for us.
