Pompei  Pre – University College, Talipady, Aikala is a religious and linguistic minority  institution which is under the management of Catholic Board of Education of the Diocese of Mangalore. Located in the prime area of Kinnigoli - Belman highway, overlooking the sea, hills and lovely villages, the panoramic view and the majestic look of the building and the serene ambience attracts the students from far and near. It is a matter of great joy to state that a total of 537 students are on the roll at the P.U. level comprising Arts, Commerce and Science streams in the year 2015-16 and at the High School Level 111 students are on the roll.
   
Pompei High School was founded by Rev. Fr. George Menezes D.D on June 1st 1945. He managed to get permission from the Govt. of Madras to start Pompei High School. Most Rev. Dr. Victor R. Fernandes, then Bishop of Mangalore, inaugurated the High School. Sri P. Govinda Rao, B.A, L.T. (1945- 1954) was the first Headmaster of Pompei High School. There after the institution was headed by Rev Fr Basil A. D’souza(1956-1969) and Rev Fr Aloysius Alvares (1969-1981).  It was during 1971-72 Pompei High School was upgraded as P.U. College. Rev Fr Bernard L. D’souza (1981-95), Rev Fr Lawrence Rodrigues (1995-2002) & Sri. K.M Uthaiah( 2002-2007) served as Principals. In 2005, Pompei P.U College celebrated its Diamond Jubliee.

Since 2007, Rev Fr Jerome D’souza  being the Principal of  this renowned College has steadily maintained  the academic excellence and has brought about innovative changes  in the institution.

Pompei P.U. College provides ample opportunities to the students in curricular & co-curricular activities including sports & games. In the Departmental competitions which were held at Taluk, District as well as state level,  students actively participated & bagged many prizes.
   
Pompei P.U. College is accredited  with ‘A’ grade status by the Pre- University Board , Malleswaram, Bangalore  which has been awarded on the basis of infrastructure, student strength, experienced teaching faculty, permanent recognition and splendid academic results. We are proud of Pompei Alumni Association and Parent – Teacher Association for their wonderful co- operation & support.

Pompei  P.U. College has steadily maintained a good track of academic record. In March 2015, II P.U. Board examination, Pompei P.U. College is proud of securing 98.28% of results and Pompei High School has bagged 90% Results. Pompei P.U College is looking forward to celebrate the momentous occasion of Platinum Jubilee in the year 2020.

Pompei P.U College is on the path of progress. We profusely thank His Excellency Most Rev Dr. Aloysius Paul D’souza, Bishop of Mangalore cum President of CBE, Rev Fr Jerald D’souza, the Secretary, Catholic Board of Education, Rev Fr Victor D’mello, the new Correspondent of Pompei Institutions for their timely intervention and guidance, and also the President of P.T Association, Office bearers, all parents, the President of alumni, office bearers and members for their continual support and good will.
